Hot Beef Sundae Cooking Contest

The Hot Beef Sundae made its debut in the Cattlemen's Beef Quarters at the Iowa State Fair in 2006 and quickly become a state fair staple for fair-goers. Although this year's fair is canceled, we thought we would bring this fan-favorite to your family's kitchen and spice things up with a side of competition. 

Categories

  1. Youth (17 and younger)
  2. Adult (18 and older)
  3. Most Creative (all ages)

Official Rules

  1. Present your prepared Hot Beef Sundae recipe using 100% real beef.
  2. Any cut of beef and combination of ingredients may be used.
  3. Provide the recipe ingredients, directions and high resolution photo of your dish.
  4. Contest submissions are due by Tuesday, August 4th at 5PM.
  5. By entering this contest, you give the Iowa Beef Industry Council rights to use the submitted recipe and photography in future programming and promotional efforts.
  6. The Sponsors (Cattlemen's Beef Quarters and Iowa Beef Industry Council) retain the discretion to make all decisions regarding the interpretation of these Official Rules. All decisions of the Sponsors are final and discretionary.

Judging Criteria

Appearance

Consideration will be given to color, eye appeal, appealing appearance of beef, attractive garnish and final plated presentation. 

Creativity

Consideration will be given to originality, innovation and uniqueness.

Awards

  • 1st place in each age category will receive a $100 beef certificate and a free Hot Beef Sundae coupon from the Cattlemen's Beef Quarters for the 2021 Iowa State Fair.
  • 2nd place in each age category will receive a $75.00 beef certificate and a free Hot Beef Sundae coupon from the Cattlemen's Beef Quarters for the 2021 Iowa State Fair.
  • 3rd place in each age category will receive a $50.00 beef certificate and a free Hot Beef Sundae coupon from the Cattlemen's Beef Quarters for the 2021 Iowa State Fair.
  • The winner of the most creative category will receive a $100 beef certificate and a free Hot Beef Sundae coupon from the Cattlemen's Beef Quarters for the 2021 Iowa State Fair.
